OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management
OHSAS 18001:2007 is the International Occupational Health and Safety Management Standard. It was published in July 2007, superseding OHSAS 18001:1999, and is intended to address occupational health and safety (OH&S) rather than product safety. OHSAS 18001 provides a framework to the effective management of OH&S including compliance with the legislation that applies to your activities and identified hazards. The standard is applicable to any organisation that wishes to eliminate or minimize risk to employees and other stakeholders who may be exposed to OH&S risks associated with its activities.
Many organizations will have elements required by OHSAS 18001 already in place which can be supplemented to provide a more cohesive management system to meet the requirements of the standard. Organisations that implement OHSAS 18001 have a clear management structure with defined authority and responsibility, clear objectives for improvement, with measurable results and a structured approach to risk assessment. This includes the monitoring of health and safety management failures, auditing of performance and review of policies and objectives.
Competent Auditors : Staffed by quality assurance professionals with backgrounds in manufacturing and service industries, distribution, engineering, information technology, transportation, and scientific and regulatory fields, our principal Auditors have a minimum of five years of auditing experience, carry STAREGISTER auditor credentials, participate in STAREGISTER's continuing education programs, and have been qualified for consistent interpretation and assessment of numerous international ISO standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS 9100, ISO/IEC 17025, OHSAS 18001, HACCP standards and regulations.
STAREGISTER's Auditors are selected for their integrity, professionalism, and respect for their clients. They are not on a "witch-hunt"; their job is to conduct a comprehensive and objective third-party audit, to add value to your operation by assessing the conformance of your OHS management system to your stated objectives and to the OHSAS 18001 standard.
Our goal is to help demystify the registration process, making it a positive and rewarding experience for your business. With that in mind, we offer the following advantages:
Absolute Neutrality: Our audits are based on real-world knowledge of current standards, not on theoretical or preconceived notions about them. Unlike some ISO registrars who tend to take an adversarial position, we believe that you are best served by our understanding of your particular processes and systems, and by our objectivity in determining your level of compliance to OHSAS 18001.
A Respect for Your Commitment: We know that achieving OHSAS 18001 certification requires considerable effort and commitment on your part, and that your ultimate goal is to meet the demands of your customers with improved quality of your products and services. We believe this is a worthy goal and one that deserves our respect.
Extensive Business Experience: Our auditors have considerable experience in a wide range of industries. You will be matched with auditor(s) who are knowledgeable about your type of business. Keep in mind that, as a STAREGISTER client, you have the final word in selecting the auditor who performs your quality system registration audit.
